10/1/2015: Welcome Back to Heatly School! It has been an extremely productive beginning to our school year! Thank you for attending our Open House. The autumn looks bright for our students, as AIS classes are now in full swing. As the months progress, I'll keep you informed about what our groups are doing, and why. And, as the days grow shorter and cooler, the time to snuggle under a blanket with a good book grows longer! The Fall is my favorite time of year! How about you?
11/30/2015: I hope you had a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving break! Here in our AIS classes at school, we have been very busy reading and writing. Our AIS groupings changed in November, and AIS progress reports went out before the break. It was a pleasure meeting some of you at conferences, and speaking to some on the phone.
12/21/2015: Its two days before our holiday break and we are all excited! Our groups have been busy reading and writing, and deserve some down time with family and friends! Check my individual updates, as they apply to your child's grade. Have a fun and restful break...see you in 2016!
1/27/2016: January has been full of some amazing reading and writing experiences. All AIS students in my classes were tested with either the Fountas and Pinnell oral reading assessment, and/or the written Qualitative Reading Inventory. Good information can be gleaned from these tests, but seeing your child each session, and making observations day to day, is another excellent way to see a child's strengths sand weaknesses. Progress reports from me will be coming home shortly via the mail. I encourage you to respond with questions and comments!
2/9/2016: February is a short month...only 29 days and one week off for Winter break! That doesn't mean we are any less productive! Our reading and writing and learning keeps on rolling ahead. Click on your child's grade level to find out what's been happening in Mrs. I's reading AIS classes.
3/3/2016: We are currently preparing for Dr. Suess night...actually, we've been preparing all week with fun ways to show how much we love this iconic author. Today is crazy hat/hair day. Then St. Patrick's day comes our way with lots of green! Followed by a certain bunny with baskets! March is certainly a busy month this year! AND we've been reading He Runs, We Look, In and Out, I See My Colors, Easter Eggs, and I See Shapes!
5/10/2016: Spring is having a tough time blossoming, but not our readers and writers! We have collectively read many stories and done a number of projects in since March. Check into your child's grade level to discover how much we've grown!
6/22/2016: Time soon for summer fun, rest and reading great books in the sun! We have been so busy wrapping everything up in June! I hope you all enjoy the time with your family and friends this summer, and remember to encourage your child to keep on reading!
